All-day cross-country rental
The All Day Cross-Country Equipment Rental gets you on the Glacier Point Road groomed track for as long as you want to be out there. Classic or skate setups, properly fitted boots, poles sized to your height. Picked up at the Nordic Center, returned by close.
What's included
- Classic or skate skis — your choice at the shop
- Nordic boots — sized at the shop (classic and skate boots are different)
- Poles — length-fitted to your height (skate poles are taller than classic)
- Wax service — skis come prepped for conditions
Which to choose if you're new to Nordic
Classic. Always classic for a first time. The kick-and-glide motion is closer to walking — accessible, intuitive, and the tracked grooming gives you guide rails to keep your skis aligned. Skate skiing requires a separate technique that takes hours of practice before it stops feeling like a workout-of-failure.
Take a classic intro lesson in your first morning if you've never cross-country skied; you'll be skiing alone in the afternoon with confidence.
Suggested routes for an all-day rental
- Out to Bridalveil Creek and back (16 miles round trip) — full day for an intermediate Nordic skier; cabin and bathroom facilities at the turnaround point
- Out to Summit Meadow and explore (3 miles + meadow wandering) — half-day adventure for beginners; meadow is a great lunch spot
- Glacier Point round trip (21 miles) — full day for fit, experienced skiers; one of the great ski days in California
