Where to go
Snowshoers can walk anywhere on snow that isn't a groomed ski track. The most popular routes from the Nordic Center:
- Old Glacier Point Road — gentle, well-marked, lots of forest scenery
- Summit Meadow — short out-and-back to an open meadow with mountain views
- Dewey Point — 8-mile loop to a dramatic Yosemite Valley overlook (full-day objective for fit snowshoers)
- Bridalveil Creek — longer trail through varied terrain
First-time snowshoer? Consider a guided hike
The Moderate Discovery Snowshoe Hike is a guided introduction with a ranger or naturalist — you'll learn the technique while also getting the geology, ecology, and history context that makes Yosemite winter so spectacular. After one guided hike, you'll be set up to do self-guided outings the rest of your trip.
