The money-back guarantee that built the program's reputation

Master the Slopes is Yosemite's flagship beginner program — and the only ski school program in California (that we're aware of) that comes with a written money-back guarantee. If you complete the program and aren't riding the chairlift by end of day, Yosemite Hospitality refunds the lesson portion of your fee. No fine print.

This guarantee tells you something about the program design. It's a structured curriculum built and refined over decades, taught by PSIA-certified instructors who know exactly which progressions work for adult beginners and which don't.

What's included

  • Lift ticket for the day (lower lifts to start, full mountain access if you progress)
  • Equipment rental — skis or snowboard, boots, poles (skiers only)
  • Two lessons with a PSIA-certified instructor
  • Practice time between and after lessons
  • Money-back guarantee on the lesson if you don't make it to the chairlift by end of day

Who this is for

Adults (13+) who have never skied or snowboarded before, or who tried it years ago and want a proper foundation. If you've stood on skis once or twice but didn't progress, this is the right package — don't try to skip ahead.

For kids 4-6, book Badger Pups instead — it's a similar all-inclusive package built for that age range.

Why it works

Three reasons, in our experience:

  1. Terrain matched to skill. The Badger Pass lower mountain is exceptionally beginner-friendly — wide, gentle greens, no icy steeps to surprise you. You progress on terrain that lets you build technique without fear.
  2. The two-lesson structure. You learn, you practice what you learned, then you come back for a second lesson that builds on it. Most ski schools front-load all instruction into a morning block. Badger Pass spreads it out — and the practice time between is where the learning actually consolidates.
  3. The guarantee changes incentives. Yosemite Hospitality refunds the program if you don't progress, which means the instructors have a direct economic interest in getting you to the chairlift. Compared to ski schools where lessons run on a clock regardless of outcome, this matters.
