Which rental do I need?

Skiing for the full day → All Day Ski & Snowboard Rental

The standard package. Skis or snowboard, boots, poles. Pick up at opening, return by close.

Half-day or split-activity day → Half Day Rental

Same gear at a lower price. Pairs naturally with the Half Day Lift Ticket.

Multi-day trip → Add a Locker

Skiing more than one day at Badger Pass? Rent a locker to leave gear overnight so you don't haul it back to your lodging each day.

Heading into the backcountry → Camping Equipment Rental

The Yosemite Mountaineering School rents winter camping gear for backcountry overnights. Tents, sleeping bags, stoves, and accessories rated for Yosemite winter conditions.

Rental FAQ

Should I book rentals in advance or just show up?

Book in advance for weekends, holidays, and any day when fresh snow is forecast. The Badger Pass rental shop has plenty of capacity, but the line at 9 AM on a powder Saturday can eat 45 minutes of your ski day. A booked rental skips the line — you go straight to the fitting bench.

What's the difference between half-day and all-day rentals?

Time, not gear. Half-day rentals are picked up after 12:30 PM and returned by 4 PM. All-day rentals are picked up from open through 4 PM. Same skis, same boots, same shop — just less time on the hill at a lower price.

What if my boots don't fit?

Return to the shop. They'll swap you into a different size or model. Ski boot fit is finicky — don't suffer through a day in bad boots when a 5-minute swap fixes it.

Are helmets included?

Helmets are not included in the base rental but are available as a low-cost add-on at the shop. Strongly recommended for all riders regardless of age or experience.

Can I bring my own gear and just rent boots?

Boot-only rentals are sometimes available — call the shop directly at (888) 413-8869 to confirm. If you have your own skis, your own boots are usually the better answer (boots are the gear that matters most).
