Building on the basics
The Intermediate Lesson is the next step after the Introductory Lesson. Assumes you can already kick-and-glide on flat terrain and want to refine technique, handle varied terrain, and start covering real distances efficiently.
What you'll work on
- Stride efficiency — extracting more glide per kick, less energy waste
- Hill climbing — beyond herringbone; using diagonal stride on moderate climbs
- Hill descending — moving past the snowplow into more controlled, faster descents
- Reading conditions — when wax matters, what to look for in track quality
- Distance pacing — how to ski 10+ miles without falling apart in the last 3
After the lesson
You'll be ready for longer outings — Bridalveil Creek round trip (16 miles), or the longer Glacier Point Road segments. Pair the intermediate lesson with the all-day rental and spend the afternoon putting what you learned into actual miles.
